Sharenet will be hosting investing and trading courses across South Africa during 2013. The aim is to help clients trade with confidence and to insure that money management and risk management rules are being applied correctly and effectively.

We will be running courses on Thursdays during office hours from 9:30am until 4pm and Saturday mornings from 8:30am until 1pm on the dates provided below in the schedule.

Mark Mayer Mark graduated from the University of Cape Town with a B.Bus.Sci degree, where he covered areas of interest including Economics, Business, Finance and Statistics. He then joined Sharenet and shortly after was tasked to head up the Business Development and Marketing Division. While working for Sharenet, Mark also completed his B.Com Honours, which included a major in Investment & Portfolio Management as well as Advanced Finance. Mark has been active in the markets for almost 10 years now and has featured in Succeed Magazine, FinWeek, on radio and most recently TV, on CNBC Africa.
Graham Atkinson Graham spent 15 years with Sage Life, heading up their broker training division, presenting to staff and clients alike. Graham then started his own successful Offshore Investment Business, Northern Financial Services, managing offshore investment accounts for high net worth clients in Botswana. He then sold the business and joined Sharenet in order to pursue an educating role once more and to be closer to his family in Cape Town. The Advanced Trading Day course is a full day course that will equip you with the necessary tips and techniques to make a success of your trading.
The day will be divided into several modules, each spearheaded by experienced presenters.
Session1: Index CFD Trading
Index trading (through CFDs) has become increasingly popular throughout the world and in London; it has already surpassed single stock futures’ volumes. South Africans are catching up fast. Learn about this fantastic instrument and how to benefit from it.

Risk management - understand how to manage risk when trading leveraged products.
Session 2 and 3: PowerStocks Ultra Trading Strategy
The second and third sections of the Advanced Trading Day will take you through the PowerStocks Ultra Strategy. PowerStocks Research will be sharing one of their most powerful trading strategies with you and insure that by the end of the sessions you will be able to trade it like a professional.
SwingTrader ULTRA is a suite of two SA TOP40 Index mechanical trading strategies. They are called S1 and S2 in a tip-of-the-hat to the famous Richard Dennis and his 1970's "Turtle Traders" that used two systems by the same name to generate millions of dollars in profit.
The systems generate live BUY and SELL signals for customers via SMS and registered clients also have access to each system’s live trading status and historic performance.
The following features are incorporated:
Hard and fast rules that take emotions out of your trading
Long and short trading opportunities
Several profit targets as the trade moves in your favour
Position sizing rules: short trading using a maximum of 2% underlying ungeared index risk and 4% for long trades to ensure only a fraction of trading capital is at risk at any time
