CAPITAL APPRECIATION (“CAPPREC”) AFFILIATE, GOVCHAT, ASSISTS GOVERNMENT WITH
DIGITAL PROCESS FOR SOCIAL RELIEF GRANT CAMPAIGN

Shareholders of CAPPREC will be pleased to learn that its affiliate, GovChat, has been privileged to
extend its relationship with Government, in this case, through the Department of Social Welfare.

GovChat, the South African civic engagement technology platform, today announced a partnership with
the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to support the digitisation of the COVID-19 social relief
grant application process. The partnership with GovChat enables millions of unemployed citizens to
apply electronically for the largest social security programme on the African continent.

GovChat’s platform is accessed through WhatsApp, FaceBook Messenger, SMS and USSD channels, and
provides a secure application portal for pre-qualifying citizens, automating filing, verification, and
applicant assessment. GovChat’s technology platform supports the seamless transfer and verification of
data securely and in real-time in a way that integrates well with SASSA’s existing internal approval and
disbursement infrastructure.

GovChat is an affiliate of CAPPREC and is funded through the CAPPREC Enterprise Development Fund. In
addition to this SASSA functionality, GovChat offers a broad range of citizen-government engagement
features for access to local, provincial and national government and has been developed in partnership
with the Department of Co-operative Development and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), including the South
African Local Government Association (SALGA).

Synthesis Software Technologies (Synthesis), a wholly owned subsidiary of CAPPREC, has been
instrumental in the design and development of the technology platform for this service to the
Department of Social Development, having also developed the more comprehensive GovChat
technology platform applicable in the CoGTA services partnership.
