APPOINTMENT OF INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

In accordance with paragraph 3.59 (a) of the JSE Listings Requirements, shareholders
are advised of the appointment of Mr Sipho Pityana as independent non-executive
director to the Board of Absa Group with effect from 1 May 2019.

Sipho holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Essex and a
Master of Science degree from the University of London.

He is a former executive director of Nedcor Investment Bank Holdings (2002 – 2004),
responsible for strategic business development.

Sipho is the founder and chairman of Izingwe Capital, a black-owned investment
company founded in 2004, which invests in a number of South Africa’s blue chip
corporates. He is also the non-executive chairman of JSE listed companies AngloGold
Ashanti and Onelogix Group.

He is the president of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and a member of the
Community of Chairmen of the World Economic Forum.
