FINANCIAL RESULTS FOR THE INTERIM PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2022 AND CASH
DIVIDEND DECLARATION  


1.   SALIENT FEATURES

     Revenue decreased by 10.8% to R1,934 million, from R2,168 million in the prior
     corresponding period.

     Basic and headline earnings per share decreased by 22.2% to 199.1 cents per share,
     from 255.8 cents per share in the prior corresponding period.

     Fund management earnings are used by management to measure operating financial
     performance, which excludes the net mark-to-market impact of fair value gains and
     losses, and related foreign exchange, on investment securities held. Fund management
     earnings per share decreased by 12.0% to 214.8 cents per share, from 244.0 cents per
     share in the prior corresponding period.

     Interim dividend decreased by 12.3% to 214.0 cents, from 244.0 cents in the prior
     corresponding period. 

2.   DIVIDEND DECLARATION

     The directors resolved to declare an interim gross dividend of 214.0 cents (March 2021:
     244.0 cents) per share from income reserves for the period ended 31 March 2022. The
     dividend amount, net of South African dividend tax of 20%, is 171.2 cents (March 2021:
     195.2 cents) per share for those shareholders who are not exempt from Dividend Tax.
     The number of ordinary shares in issue at the declaration date is 349 799 102 and the
     income tax number of the Company is 9 675 107 719.

     The salient dates of the dividend declaration are:

     Last day to trade cum dividend:                      Tuesday, 7 June 2022
     Trading ex-dividend commences:                       Wednesday, 8 June 2022
     Record date:                                         Friday, 10 June 2022
     Payment date:                                        Monday, 13 June 2022

     Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Wednesday,
     8 June 2022 and Friday, 10 June 2022, both days inclusive.
