SABCAP EXPANDS PET INDUSTRY INTERESTS THROUGH VALEMOUNT

Shareholders are advised that Valemount Trading Proprietary Limited (Valemount), in which
Sabcap has a 39,31% interest, has commenced material growth initiatives to expand its operations
in the pet industry, both organically and by acquisition.

Valemount is a pet food manufacturer and supplier to leading retail chains, specialist pet stores
and major co-ops in South Africa. Valemount is the largest distributor of bird seed and related
feeder products in the country through its Westerman's, De Bird and Animal Zone brands. The
expansion of its range of products is supported by its international partners M-PETS and Pet
Rebels. It is also a major provider of outsourced logistical services to numerous independent pet
product suppliers through its nationwide distribution centers.

In the current period Valemount has:

   -   Completed its relocation to a new R160m production facility in Modderfontein;
   -   Acquired Ourebi Trading Proprietary Limited, a bakery and manufacturer of dog and cat
       biscuits under three brands – Montgomery's, Dr Claude and Pet Patisserie, as well as a
       number of private label products;
   -   Acquired the business of Commix Proprietary Limited, a regional supplier to the bird seed
       market;
   -   Acquired the business of Complete Pet Foods Proprietary Limited, a national supplier of a
       range of premium dog foods; and
   -   Commenced discussions for the acquisition of a UK based cat food business.

Sabcap has committed a new. initial funding line of up to R200m to facilitate this expansion and
future acquisitions.

Sabcap regards Valemount as a major growth investment in its portfolio and intends to increase
the scale of its investment as circumstances permit.
