Notification of appointment of Executive Directors and resignation of Company Secretary
In compliance with paragraph 6.42 of the Debt and Specialist Securities Listings Requirements of the
JSE, the Board of Directors ("the Board") of Mercedes-Benz South Africa ("MBSA") hereby notifies the
noteholders that Taryn Woodbridge, currently Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director Finance
and Controlling of Mercedes-Benz South Africa, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer ("CEO"),
effective 1 June 2026, by Mercedes-Benz AG. She will thus succeed Andreas Brand, outgoing CEO of
MBSA - who resigned to take up a new assignment at Mercedes-Benz AG as the Head of Supply Chain
Management for Global Customer Services and Parts (GCSP), in Stuttgart, Germany.
Taryn is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and a Taxation Masters in Commerce graduate from
Rhodes University. Taryn joined MBSA in 2004 as a Product Control Analyst and has held several
leadership positions in Controlling, Taxation and Accounting with a focus on Plant Performance and
Optimisation over the years. In 2014, Taryn was promoted into a Senior Management position
responsible for Plant Accounting and Controlling, and in 2022, Taryn was appointed to her current role
as CFO.
Effective 1 June 2026, Ulf Nestler will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Taryn
Woodbridge.
Throughout his global career with Mercedes-Benz, Ulf has built extensive expertise in finance, strategy,
and business development, successfully leading and developing organizations across Asia. In addition
to his strategic and financial responsibilities, he has led several major M&A initiatives in China,
contributing significantly to the long-term positioning of the company in the region and successfully
building a strong foundation for sustainable growth across both Asia and Europe.
For the past three years, Ulf has served as Chief Financial Officer of Mercedes-Benz Research and
Development India (MBRDI) and as a member of the executive leadership team. In this role, he also
acted as a trusted advisor to the Board, ensuring strong governance, smooth integration, and close
alignment across entities.
Additionally, the company secretary Dr. Denis Peterson has resigned from his position to pursue an
executive role outside the organisation, effective 31 May 2026. Dr. Peterson joined Mercedes-Benz
South Africa in 2014 as a Senior Legal Specialist. He was appointed Company Secretary in 2016 and
General Counsel in 2020. During his tenure, he has been responsible for the legal, governance and
company secretarial functions of the group, supporting the Board and management on regulatory,
governance and legal matters.
A replacement for the role of company secretary will be communicated in due course.
The Board congratulates these directors on their respective appointments and looks forward to their
contributions for the sustained success of MBSA. The Board further wishes to express its appreciation
to Dr. Peterson for his contribution to the company.
