RESIGNATION OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE AND APPOINTMENT OF ACTING CHIEF EXECUTIVE
In compliance with the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, stakeholders are advised that on the
21st of October 2020, the Board of Umgeni Water has received the resignation of its current Chief
Executive, Mr Thamsanqa Hlongwa and has accepted the resignation. This resignation is with immediate
effect and Mr Hlongwa will be leaving Umgeni Water on 21 October 2020.
The Board has appointed Mrs Nomalungelo Mkhize, the current Chief Financial Officer, to be the Acting
Chief Executive in the interim whilst the Board deliberates on the initiation of the process to fill the position.
Mrs Mkhize has been the Chief Financial Officer and a Member of the Executive Committee of Umgeni
Water from 2018 and the Board has full confidence that she will be equal to the task and will steer the
organisation to greater heights.
