APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

In accordance with paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, the board is
pleased to inform debenture holders of the appointment of Mr Douglas Austen Lorimer as non-
executive director to the board with immediate effect.

Mr Lorimer’s holds a Business Science Information Systems degree from the University of Cape
Town. He is also a qualified actuary and a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa.
He has worked in the financial services sector for the past decade and a half, in insurance, retail- and
investment banking and most recently as a non-recourse finance advisor.

Presently, he is a non-executive director of a JSE-listed financing vehicle which provides funding to a
South African renewable energy project, in terms of which he represents investors’ interests with
respect to the project and ensures that investors’ rights are enforced and the project meets its
obligations. He is also a non-executive director on a number of RMB's, Investec's, Absa's and
Standard Bank's financial structuring vehicles, including securitisation vehicles, an exchange-traded
fund, commercial paper conduits and security SPVs.

NewGold welcomes Mr Lorimer to the board and looks forward to his contribution to the Company.
