EDF RENEWABLES AWARDS OPTIPOWER, IN CONSORTIUM WITH CONCOR CONSTRUCTION,
A MAIN TRANSMISSION SUBSTATION AND TWO WIND ENERGY PROJECTS IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Group is pleased to announce that OptiPower (a trading division of Murray & Roberts Limited), in
consortium with Concor Construction, has been awarded contracts by EDF Renewables (Pty) Ltd, with a
combined value of circa R1,2 billion attributable to OptiPower. These awards follow the Group’s Power,
Industrial & Water (“PIW”) platform’s ongoing and active engagement with Independent Power Producers
who were shortlisted for projects in the South African renewable energy sector.

The consortium has concluded engineering, procurement and construction balance of plant contracts for
the Koruson 400/132kV Main Transmission Substation and the 140MW San Kraal and Phezukomoya
Wind Energy Facilities, located on the boundary of the Eastern Cape and Northern Cape provinces.

EDF Renewables is a subsidiary of EDF Renouvelables and currently operates four wind farms in South
Africa.

The Group expects that the increasing investment in utility scale renewable energy projects in South
Africa, will enable the PIW platform to return to profitability in the near term.
