APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER DESIGNATE

Lewis Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Jacques Bestbier as chief
financial officer (“CFO”) designate with effect from 1 June 2017.

Jacques (44) has been general manager: administration for most of his career with the
group since joining in 2012. He is an experienced chartered accountant with a
background in the short-term insurance, banking and retail sectors. Prior to joining
Lewis he spent six years with the Shoprite Group in financial and divisional
management roles.

He will succeed Les Davies, who has served as the group’s CFO and financial director
since 1989. Les (61) will be stepping down as CFO and as an executive director of
Lewis Group with effect from 31 March 2018. He will continue to serve as the chief
executive officer of the group’s short-term insurer, Monarch Insurance.

Commenting on the appointments, chairman David Nurek said: “We are pleased to be
able to appoint an internal candidate of Jacques’ calibre to this strategic position. He
has a proven track-record in financial management and has gained relevant
experience in the retail sector over the past decade. Jacques will work closely with Les
in the months ahead to ensure a smooth transition into the role of CFO. We are also
fortunate to retain the services of Les and will continue to benefit from his extensive
insurance knowledge.”
