Ann Godbehere will become a Non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco  
plc with effect from 3 October 2011.  Ann, who is a Canadian national with      
British citizenship, is currently serving on the Boards of Rio Tinto plc, UBS AG
and Prudential plc.                                                             
Commenting on her appointment, Richard Burrows, Chairman of British American    
Tobacco plc, said: "I am delighted to be able to welcome another director with a
proven international track record and I look forward to the contribution she    
will undoubtedly be able to make."
