MSM - Massmart Holdings - Sales Update For The 26 Weeks To 23 December 2007 Massmart Holdings Limited (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) (Registration Number: 1940/014066/05) Share code: MSM ISIN: ZAE000029534 ("Massmart" or "the Group") Sales update for the 26 weeks to 23 December 2007 Massmart Group`s total sales increased to R20.1 billion, a growth of 11.6% over the prior year, with inflation estimated at 6.3%. Comparable store sales grew 9.5%. In this our 53 week trading year, it is important to note that the significant trading day of 24 December 2007 fell in the 27th week of the Group`s retail calendar and so is not included in the figures shown above. The Group`s total and comparable sales growths for the 27 weeks were 12.0% and 10.0% respectively, a more accurate reflection of sales performance over the period. Divisional total sales growth for the 26 week period was as follows: - Massdiscounters grew 7.8% with inflation of 2.7%; - Masswarehouse grew 12.6% with inflation of 5.9%; - Massbuild grew 16.2% with inflation of 7.4%; and - Masscash`s wholesale cash & carry outlets grew 15.4% with inflation of 10.4%.
