VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 6, 2007) - Mr. Ian Rozier,
President and CEO of Eastern Platinum Limited (`Eastplats` or the `Company`)
(TSX:ELR)(AIM:ELR)(JSE:EPS) is pleased to report on executive
and management appointments in both Canada and South Africa.
Mr. Horng Dih (H.D.) Lee, M.B.A., C.A. has been appointed as Vice President
Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Eastplats. Mr. Lee was previously
employed by Deloitte & Touche, Diamond Field Resources Inc., Ivanhoe Mines
Ltd., and since 2003 as CFO of Northern Orion Resources Inc. He has 20 years
experience in financial management and reporting for numerous public companies
involved in international mining projects.
Mr. Brian Montpellier, P.Eng, has been appointed as Vice President, Project
Development, of Eastplats. Between 1974 and 2004, Mr. Montpellier held various
management positions with Fluor Daniel and other major engineering
firms. He has worked on over 30 major international mining projects, and has
been involved in project and construction management, technical project audits,
conceptual and detailed mine design and feasibility study
management.
Both Mr. Lee and Mr. Montpellier will play an integral part in the future
success of the Company as it enters a period of significant capital expenditure
and commences design and construction of several new PGM projects in South
Africa. These appointments reflect both the rapid growth of Eastplats during the
previous 24 months and its profile going forward, with an emphasis on financial
controls, financial reporting and corporate
development.
In South Africa, Mr. Johannes Spies has been appointed as General Manager of the
Crocodile River Mine Operations (`CRM`). Mr. Spies has over 40 years experience
in mining in Africa, including over 30 years in South Africa, and until
recently, was Managing Director of the AGA Obuasi Mine in Ghana. Mr. Spies, who
has numerous safety and operating achievements to his credit, brings a wealth of
mining experience to the role of GM at CRM. With the ramp-up of production at
Zandfontein and Maroelabult, the accelerated new development work at
Zandfontein, Crocette, Kareespruit, as well as the Smelter upgrade evaluation,
the Company welcomes the appointment of Mr. Spies who as GM will oversee all
mining and development operations at CRM.
`These new appointments reflect the Company`s continued growth into a major
platinum group metal producer`, stated Ian Rozier.
