DECLARATION OF DIVIDEND                                                         
Further to our announcement on 22 August 2007, a final dividend of 123          
cents per share has been declared in respect of the period ended 24 June        
2007.                                                                           
The last day to trade cum - dividend will be Friday, 19 October 2007.           
Massmart shares will commence trading ex - dividend from the commencement       
of business on Monday, 22 October 2007 and the record date will be Friday,      
26 October 2007 with payment of the dividend occurring on Monday, 29            
October 2007.                                                                   
Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between          
Monday, 22 October 2007 and Friday, 26 October 2007.                            
A Thuthukani dividend equivalent to 25% of the Massmart ordinary dividend       
per share (30,75 cents) will be paid to the Massmart Thuthukani Empowerment     
Trust on Monday, 29 October 2007.
