The board has declared a interim dividend of 22,0 cents (2004: 16,5 cents) per  
share, payable to shareholders on Tuesday 22 March 2005.    The last day to     
trade cum dividend will be Friday 11 March 2005.   As from Monday 14 March 2005 
all trading of Shoprite Holdings Ltd shares will take place ex dividend.  The   
record date is Friday 18 March 2005.                                            
Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Monday,  
14 March 2005, and Friday, 18 March 2005, both days inclusive.
