of the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa of the appointment of Michael       
Anthony Thompson as an additional independent non-executive director of the     
company with effect from 1 March 2004.                                          
Mr Thompson holds the qualifications B.Com (UN), MBA (UCT) and AMP (Harvard) and
has had an extensive career in the financial services industry, most recently as
CEO of Cape of Good Hope Bank and as a regional executive with Nedcor.  Prior to
that he was deputy CEO and COO of the JSE, and CEO of BOE Merchant Bank
