2003, shareholders are advised that the annual financial statements have been   
dispatched to shareholders on 24 October 2003 and contain no modifications to   
the reviewed preliminary results which were published on 20 August 2003. The    
Annual Report is available online at www.massmart.co.za.                        
The annual financial statements have been audited by the Company"s auditors     
Deloitte & Touche. Their unqualified report is available for inspection at the  
Company"s registered office                                                     
Notice to the annual general meeting                                            
Notice is hereby given that the Company"s annual general meeting of shareholders
will be held in the Massmart board room, Massmart House, 16 Peltier Drive,      
Johannesburg, South Africa on 18 November 2003 at 09h00 to transact businesses  
as stated on the notice of the annual general meeting forming part of the Annual
Report.
