DISCOVERY HOLDINGS LIMITED - DISCOVERY PROGRAMMES ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERS FOR 2004 DISCOVERY HOLDINGS LIMITED (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) (Registration number: 1999/007789/06) ISIN: ZAE000022331 Share Code: DSY PRESS RELEASE DISCOVERY PROGRAMMES ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERS FOR 2004 Members of Discovery"s two member programmes, Discovery Vitality and KeyClub, are set to gain substantial benefits from new partnerships announced this week for 2004. KeyClub - the lifestyle programme associated with KeyCare Health Plans launched earlier this year for people who earn a low income and were previously uninsured - now offers automatic funeral cover for the member and all dependants through Capital Alliance. KeyClub members will enjoy cover of up to R10 000 at no extra cost. "In terms of the agreement, Capital Alliance Life agents will distribute the KeyCare Health Plans while KeyClub members will receive a benefit worth more than double the monthly KeyClub contributions, which also give them access to a range of other lifestyle benefits," says Neville Koopowitz, marketing director, Discovery. According to Ian Kirk, CEO of Capital Alliance Life, the joint venture with Discovery Health is in line with the company"s distribution strategy, "We operate as a wholesaler and manufacturer of life insurance products to selected distribution partners. We view our partnership with Discovery Health"s KeyClub as a long term strategic partnership structured to ensure the alignment of interests." KeyClub members will also have access to unprecedented rates on Greyhound buses on all 118 of the bus company"s destinations. The Vodacom benefit has been enhanced and KeyClub will also offer Telkom vouchers at reduced rates. Since its inception at the beginning of this year, the KeyCare Health Plans have attracted over 50 000 members, surpassing initial projections. The Vitality benefits have also been significantly enhanced to offer members access to a range of new lifestyle benefits. The first new Vitality partner is Clicks; members will receive a Clicks Gold ClubCard which qualifies them for cash-back vouchers varying from 8% to 15% of the purchase value depending on their Vitality status. Another new partner is Look & Listen Music Stores. Vitality members will be entitled to purchase one CD at Look & Listen and obtain a 60% discount off a second CD purchased at the same time. According to their Vitality status, members will be able to access this benefit up to four times a month. Vitality members will also have access to technology from Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and McAfee at substantially reduced rates ranging from 20% off for Blue members to 35% for Gold members via Digital Planet. A partnership with Imperial Motors and Barloword offers VitalityMOTOR, which gives members the maximum discounts available on new car purchases. If members qualify for credit, they will be entitled to an interest rate of prime minus 3% on their financing agreement through WesBank. The value of this benefit far exceeds the monthly Vitality contribution. "We recently reached the one million-member milestone in the Vitality programme and the innovative wellness model we have created is paying dividends in terms of our members" health. Our statistics show that Vitality members are 40% more likely than non-members to take preventive health steps such as quitting smoking or having a cholesterol test. Vitality members also go to hospital up to 20% less often than their non-Vitality counterparts. The programme has the added incentive of allowing members access to significant value through our partners," says Koopowitz. Ends...
