DIRECTOR                                                                        
The board of Woolworths Holdings Limited announces the appointment of Norman    
William Thomson to the position of Director : Finance, with immediate           
effect.                                                                         
Norman, who is a Chartered Accountant, has been with Woolworths for the past    
ten years, and has been Acting Finance Director since 1 December 2001. He       
was appointed to the board on 12 March 2001.                                    
The board wishes Norman every success in his new position.
