SUPER GROUP HAS CONSOLIDATED ITS POSITION AS THE DOMINANT PLAYER IN THE SA ELECTRONIC SECURITY SECTOR BY ACQUIRING A FURTHER 12 COMPANIES. IN THE PROCESS IT HAS MOVED STRONGLY INTO THE CAPE AND FREE STATE MARKETS. IT IS NOW THE LARGEST COMPANY IN GAUTENG, KWA-ZULU NATAL AND THE FREE STATE.
IN OCTOBER LAST YEAR SUPER GROUP BOUGHT FOUR LEADING SECURITY COMPANIES IN GAUTENG AND TWO IN KWA-ZULU NATAL. OVER THE PAST THREE MONTHS IT HAS ADDED ARROW ALARMS, NORTHERN SENTRY, SPIDER ALARMS, PERSONAL HOME SECURITY AND CARAPAX WARDEN SERVICES IN GAUTENG AND
D & I ELECTRONICS IN KWA-ZULU NATAL. IN BLOEMFONTEIN, IT BOUGHT ASTRON ALARMS' ALARM AND TRACKING SYSTEM AND JBT BURGLAR ALARMS. THE IMPORTANT CAPE TOWN MARKET WAS ENTERED BY ACQUIRING ET SECURITY (CAPE TOWN), MULTISEC SECURITY AND STEINBAR ALARMS. MULTISEC SECURITY WAS PART OF THE GROUP WHICH RECENTLY COMPLETED THE TOTAL SECURITY INSTALLATION FOR THE NEW TABLE MOUNTAIN CABLE CAR PROJECT.
COMMENTING ON THE ACQUISITIONS DR LARRY LIPSCHITZ, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF SUPER GROUP, SAID THAT THE SECURITY OPERATION SLOTTED INTO THE GROUP'S FAST GROWING FINANCIAL SERVICES DIVISION. IT NOW HAD APPROXIMATELY 75 000 CLIENTS WITH MOST OF THE TURNOVER RECEIVED MONTHLY IN ADVANCE. THIS PROVIDED A STABLE AND SUSTAINABLE ANNUITY INCOME. WITH ALL THE TRANSACTIONS THE NECESSARY PROFIT WARRANTIES AND/OR RECURRING REVENUE WARRANTIES WERE GIVEN BY THE SELLERS OF THE VARIOUS COMPANIES.
ACCORDING TO DR LIPSCHITZ THE SECURITY INDUSTRY IS FAST GROWING IN BOTH GOOD AND BAD TIMES AND THE ELECTRONIC MONITORING AND ARMED RESPONSE SECTOR IS SHOWING PARTICULAR RAPID GROWTH. WE RUN IN EXCESS OF 100 EMERGENCY RESPONSE VEHICLES OPERATING DAY AND NIGHT IN THE JOHANNESBURG AREA.
"THE BENEFITS OF SIZE OFFER US THE ABILITY TO INVEST HEAVILY IN TECHNOLOGY, TRAINING AND THE PROVISION OF EXCELLENT SUPERVISION AND BACK-UP. WE ARE ABLE TO OFFER THE BEST SERVICE LEVELS IN THE INDUSTRY BECAUSE EACH SECTOR IS BROKEN INTO SMALL WELL MANAGED CLIENT AREAS."
HE SAID THE GROWING SECURITY OPERATION PROVIDED EXCELLENT SYNERGIES WITHIN THE GROUP. "FIRSTLY GLOBAL INSURANCE CAN NOW OFFER SPECIALISED INSURANCE PRODUCTS TO A LARGE CUSTOMER BASE. SECONDLY OUR SECURITY COMPANIES HELP PROTECT THE SAFETY OF OUR 6 000 VEHICLES AND THE GOODS THEY CARRY THROUGH SOPHISTICATED CONTROL CENTRES AND STATE-OF-THE-ART SATELLITE TRACKING." HE POINTED OUT THAT SUPER GROUP HAD BEEN A JOINT DEVELOPMENT PARTNER OVER THE PAST. TWO YEARS WITH SIEMENS AND VODACOM OF A STATE-OF-THE-ART SATELLITE CELLULAR TRACKING DEVICE WHICH REQUIRED 24 HOUR MONITORING. THE SUPER GROUP WAS ALSO PROACTIVELY INVOLVED IN OTHER FLEET TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENTS WHICH REQUIRED 24 HOUR MONITORING CONTROL ROOMS.
LIPSCHITZ SAID HE BELIEVED THAT SUPER GROUP HAD SECURED THE BEST MANAGEMENT TEAM IN THE SECURITY INDUSTRY WHICH WOULD ENSURE FUTURE GROWTH AND MAINTAIN MARKET LEADERSHIP.
