Sappi announces that Mr Helmut Mamsch intends to retire from the board of       
directors of the Company on 31 December 2010, after 7 years service on the      
board.                                                                          
Commenting on behalf of the Board, Chairman Danie Cronje said:"Mr Mamsch has    
been a dedicated and active board member, chairing the Sappi Fine Paper Europe  
audit committee as well as serving on the group audit committee and the group   
compensation committee. The board wishes to thank him for his valuable          
contribution."
