CHANGE IN BENEFICIAL INTEREST IN SECURITIES

In accordance with section 122(3)(b) of the Companies Act, No. 71 of 2008 (the “Companies
Act”) and paragraph 3.83(b) of the JSE Listings Requirements, shareholders are hereby
advised that Massmart has received formal notification from RMB Morgan Stanley (Pty) Ltd
(“RMB”) that it has acquired an interest in the ordinary shares of Massmart, such that
the total interest in the ordinary shares held in the Company by RMB now amounts to 5.29%
of the total issued ordinary shares of Massmart.


As required in terms of Section 122 of the Companies Act, the required notices will be
filed with the Takeover Regulation Panel in due course.
