Subsequent to the exclusion of Anglogold Ashanti from the RAFI indices at the   
March 2008 review, and a notification from the Stock Exchange and Research      
Affiliates, FTSE and the JSE announces the following changes:

                    index with a shares in issue figure

                    weighting of 100%.                                          
FTSE/JSE RAFI 40     Anglogold Ashanti (South Africa,      03 November 2008     
Index  (J260)        ZAE000043485) will be added to the                         
                    index with a shares in issue figure                         
                    of 350,606,819 and an investability                         
weighting of 100%.                                          

Anglogold Ashanti will be added to both indices with the RAFI factor of         
0.01728700
