CHANGES TO THE BOARD - APPOINTMENT OF GROUP CEO AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The board of directors of Life Healthcare (“the Board”) is pleased to announce the appointment
of Dr Shrey Viranna to the position of Group Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) and executive
director of the Company with effect from 1 February 2018.
Shrey is a medical doctor by training. He was a partner at McKinsey where he spent 12 years
working across the pharmaceutical, private and public healthcare industries. He has had strong
international exposure through his McKinsey assignments including advising on M&A
transactions. Shrey moved to Discovery in 2013 concurrently working as the CEO for Discovery
Vitality and DiscoveryCard (the latter role was moved to DiscoveryBank). Shrey has been
responsible for driving profitable growth in these businesses.
The Board is delighted that Shrey will be joining Life Healthcare as Group CEO and is confident
that he will deliver on the Company’s strategy. The board welcomes Shrey and looks forward
to his contribution.
The Board also wishes to record its sincere appreciation to Pieter van der Westhuizen the acting
CEO for his commitment and strong leadership during the transition period.
