FATALITY AT HARMONY`S MERRIESPRUIT 3 SHAFT                                      
Johannesburg. Monday, 30 November 2009. Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited     
(Harmony) regrets to announce that a tramming accident occurred early this      
morning at its Merriespruit 3 shaft - which is part of the Virginia Operations  
in the Free State - that resulted in the death of a mineworker.                 
Management together with the Department of Mineral Resources began              
investigations today into the cause of the accident.                            
Harmony`s Chief Executive Officer, Graham Briggs and his management team,       
express their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
