BSR - Basil Read - Trading Statement Basil Read Holdings Limited (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) (Registration Number 1984/007758/06) Share Code: BSR ISIN: ZAE000029781 ("Basil Read" or "the Group") TRADING STATEMENT Shareholders are advised that Basil Read expects its earnings for the period ending 31 December 2010 to be between 0% and 10% lower compared to the previously reported corresponding period. Shareholders are further advised that Basil Read expects its headline earnings for the period ending 31 December 2010 to be between 5% and 15% lower compared to the previously reported corresponding period. Shareholders are reminded that on 21 December 2009, the group issued 37,3 million Basil Read shares as part payment for the acquisition of the TWP group. This issue of shares increased the weighted average number of shares in issue from 86.5 million shares in 2009 to 123.8 million shares for the 2010 financial year. Shareholders are therefore advised that Basil Read expects its earnings per share and headline earnings per share for the period ending 31 December 2010 to be between 30% and 40% lower compared to the previously reported corresponding period. The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed or reported on by Basil Read`s auditors. The group`s results for the period ending 31 December 2010 will be published on or about 24 March 2011.
