ANGLOGOLD ANNOUNCES EXTENDED LIFE FOR NAVACHAB MINE                             
AngloGold is pleased to announce that the life of its Navachab Mine in          
Namibia has been extended by eight years - from 2005 to 2013 following a        
decision to enlarge the existing open-pit mine. Approval has now been           
given for this project to go ahead.                                             
During its extended life, it is expected that the mine will maintain its        
current mill throughput of around 1.3 million tonnes a year and its             
annual production of some 80 000 ounces.                                        
The manager of Navachab, Frank Bethune says: "The recent sustained              
improvement in the gold price has made the project viable.                      
"The project required an extension to our mining licence and this was           
issued last month.  We appreciate the service provided by the Ministry          
of Mines and Energy in handling this request speedily and efficiently."         
An open-pit operation, Navachab is situated near the town of Karibib.           
It has been in production since 1989 and provides employment for more           
than 300 people.
