Proposed acquisition by AngloGold of shares in Normandy Mining Limited and
results of general meeting

At the general meeting of shareholders of AngloGold held on Wednesday, 19
December 2001, the ordinary resolutions approving the revised offer for the
acquisition by the company of up to 100% of the issued share capital of
Normandy Mining Limited were passed by the requisite majority of
shareholders.

As announced on 18 December 2001, the closing date for AngloGold's offer for
Normandy has been extended from Thursday, 27 December 2001 to Friday, 4
January 2002.  The offer will close at 19:00 Sydney time; 03:00 New York
time.
