Trading statement
In terms of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, companies are
required to publish a trading statement as soon as they are
reasonably certain that the financial results for the current
reporting period will be more than 20% different than those of
the prior comparative period.
In this regard, shareholders are advised that, for the year
ended 30 June 2021, the Company expects to report:
• basic and diluted earnings per share (“EPS”) - loss of
between (155.8) cents to (165.4) cents compared to basic and
diluted EPS of (440.0) cents for the year ended 30 June 2020
(“FY2020”), representing a decrease of between 65% and 62% in
EPS loss. EPS for FY2020 has been restated for IAS 33
following the rights offer in August 2020 and was previously
reported at (1 329.4) cents; and
• basic and diluted headline earnings per share (“HEPS”) - loss
of between (88.10) cents to (93.6) cents compared to basic
and diluted HEPS of (128.4) cents for FY2020, representing a
decrease of between 31% and 27% in HEPS loss. HEPS for FY2020
has been restated for IAS 33 following the rights offer in
August 2020 and was previously reported at (388.1) cents.
The basic and diluted EPS loss includes total impairment losses
of R420.1 million, related mainly to measurement to fair value
less cost to sell of the East African assets held for sale.
Shareholders are advised that the information on which this
trading statement is based has not been reviewed or reported on
by the Company’s auditors. City Lodge’s results for the year
ended 30 June 2021 will be released on SENS on or about 10
September 2021.
