South Africa Listings Requirements, FirstRand advises of the following changes  
to the board:                                                                   
New appointments:                                                               
Mrs Gugu Moloi and Dr Lulu Gwagwa have been appointed as independent non-       
executive directors with effect from 25 February 2004, the date of the next     
FirstRand board meeting.                                                        
Resignation:                                                                    
Mr. B H Adams resigns from the board with effect from 9 February 2004.
