Eskom notes the announcement by the Minister of Finance

Eskom welcomes the statement made by National Treasury in the Medium-Term Budget
Policy Statement relating to a prospective debt relief solution for the company. Addressing
Eskom’s debt levels is a key component to the company’s turnaround plan envisaged
under the DPE’s Roadmap, and this solution, combined with other reforms at Eskom and
in the South African electricity sector, will ensure the long-term financial stability and
sustainability of Eskom and the South African electricity sector.

Eskom looks forward to continuing to work closely with Government representatives to
develop the specifics of the debt relief solution and will engage with its investors and other
stakeholders at the appropriate time. In parallel, Eskom will continue working on the
implementation of the unbundling of its Transmission division, which remains a key
strategic priority for the company envisaged under the DPE Roadmap.
