Passing away of Independent Non-executive Director
Balwin regrets to announce the unfortunate and untimely passing of Duncan
Westcott, an Independent Non-executive Director of the Group, on
Thursday, 19 August 2021.
Duncan was appointed to the Board of Balwin in October 2019 and made a
considerable contribution, especially as a member of the audit and risk
committee.
He worked for 30 years as an accountant and auditor, followed by 10 years
outside the profession working in industry and commerce on various
financial and related non-executive tasks.
He served as a partner of PWC for over 20 years where his roles included
national staff partner, national head of small business practice and
lead partner of transaction services in the Western Cape.
Duncan had extensive financial and commercial experience. He was the
chairman of Standard Bank Mauritius as well as an independent non-
executive director and chairman of the audit committee at Lewis Group
Limited.
Duncan will be fondly remembered for his wonderful disposition and
incredible compassion he exhibited to all. He had great integrity and a
terrific passion for the work he undertook. We wish to convey our deep-
felt condolences to Duncan’s wife Amanda and the rest of his family,
friends, and associates at this challenging time.
