FINANCIAL INSTRUMENT EARLY REDEMPTION – AB011

Absa Bank – Dated Tier 2 Notes, with stock code AB011 (the “Notes”) were issued with a final Maturity
Date of 21 November 2023, however, are redeemable at the Issuer’s option on 21 November 2018 (the
“First Optional Redemption Date”) in accordance with Condition 11.5 (Redemption of Subordinated
Notes) of the Terms and Conditions of the Notes (as read with the Applicable Pricing Supplement).

In accordance with Condition 18 (Notices) of the Terms and Conditions of the Notes, notice is hereby
given to Noteholders of the Notes that the Issuer has exercised its option to early redeem the Notes
on 21 November 2018. Payment of the redemption amount, together with applicable interest, will be
effected on the First Optional Redemption Date.

The redemption amount of the Notes is ZAR2,007,000,000.00 nominal, and the nominal amount
outstanding of the Notes after the redemption will be ZAR0.00. Absa Bank will maintain its capital
position in line with Board targets subsequent to the early redemption of the Notes.
