S&P raises African Bank’s National Scale credit rating to zaA- from zaBBB

Noteholders are advised that, after recalibrating its national scale mapping table for South
Africa, S&P Global Ratings has reviewed its national scale credit ratings in respect of the
financial institutions on which it maintains a public credit rating. As a result of this
review, African Bank’s long term national scale rating has been raised to zaA- from zaBBB,
while the short term national scale rating has been retained at zaA-2.

The ‘B+/B’global scale rating and outlook of “stable” previously assigned to the Bank
remains unchanged.
