On 29 March 2018, the Auditor General informed TCTA of his intention to exercise his right, under Section 4(3) of the Public Audit Act (Act number 25 of 2004), to perform the statutory audit of TCTA from the financial year starting 1 April 2018. The Public Audit Act grants the Auditor General jurisdiction over public sector audits. Sections 4(3) and 12 of the Act allow the Auditor General to either perform audits of Public Entities listed in the Public Finance Management Act (Act number 1 of 1999) or to allow for such audits to be performed by qualifying private sector authorised auditors. At its meeting of 26 April 2018, the Board of TCTA resolved to accept the Auditor General's decision. The audit for the 2017/18 financial year (year to 31 March 2018) will be conducted by EY as scheduled. During this, the handover to the Auditor General will take place. EY has been TCTA's external auditor on a five year fixed-term contract for the financial years starting 1 April 2013 (in the financial year 2013/14) to 31 March 2018 (2017/18).
