PPC shareholders are referred to the announcement published on SENS on 24
July 2017 announcing the appointment of Johan Claassen as interim chief
executive officer (“CEO”) and executive director with effect 24 July 2018.

In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, the PPC board wishes to inform shareholders of the appointment of
Mr Johan Claassen as CEO and executive director of PPC Ltd with immediate
effect.

“Since his appointment as interim CEO, Johan has overseen a number of
important milestones including the successful stabilisation of the business,
an improvement in efficiencies following the completion of key projects and
the strengthening of PPC’s financial position,” explains PPC Chairman, Peter
Nelson. “Johan has developed strong relationships with a number of important
stakeholders, not least the PPC board, executive team and the company’s
broader management team. He has demonstrated that he has the right set of
skills to effectively lead the company by balancing operational and financial
considerations to leverage our quality assets across the continent, improve
our profitability and deliver sustainable long term returns for our
stakeholders. After due process and all considered, the board confirms the
appointment and looks forward to working with Johan.”

Johan was previously the managing director for PPC Cement RSA and has served
as a member of the group executive team since January 2013. He holds a BEng
(University of Stellenbosch) and EDP (Wits Business School) and, having been
with PPC for more than 28 years, has experience in all facets of the cement
industry.

Following the appointment of Mr Claassen as CEO, the appointment of Njombo
Lekula, previously MD of Rest of Africa Cement, to MD of SA Cement has been
confirmed.

Njombo has been at PPC for 27 years, holding a number of cement manufacturing
and executive management roles. Before taking on the role of MD for Rest of
Africa Cement in December 2015, he was appointed MD of PPC Zimbabwe in 2013
where he steered a turnaround of the business, improving volumes and
profitability. He has extensive knowledge in the management of cement plants
and complex, multi-million dollar projects. During his tenure as MD of PPC
Zimbabwe, Njombo oversaw the construction of the $82 million factory in
Harare, Zimbabwe. He has also been instrumental in providing leadership and
direction on the operational readiness of our other projects leading up to
the completion and commissioning of the integrated cement plants in the DRC
and Ethiopia.
Njombo is a chemical engineer by profession and holds a Masters in Business
Administration from the University of Stellenbosch Business School.

Njombo is replaced by Mokate Ramafoko whose appointment to MD of Rest of
Africa Cement has been confirmed.

Mokate is a chemist by profession with over 23 years of experience in the
cement manufacturing, quality assurance and cement process optimisation
industries. He has held various leadership positions in PPC as well as Holcim
South Africa (now AfriSam).

Mokate has extensive knowledge in overseeing and managing complex, multi-
million dollar operations where he has been instrumental in driving business
growth. Most recently, Mokate was instrumental in driving and guiding the
CIMERWA business to realise an improvement in its processes and ultimately
driving operational efficiencies.

He holds a Masters in Business Administration (Unisa), a BSc (UCT) and BSc
(Hons) Metallurgy (UP).

“These executive appointments are in line with our succession planning
approach which is to promote experienced internal candidates with the right
leadership pedigree to harness talent across the company and deliver on PPC’s
corporate strategy. The profile of our executive management team is further
enhanced by these appointments, in line with our transformation agenda”
concludes Nelson.
