Updated Trading Statement for the period ended 30 September 2017 ECSPONENT LIMITED Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa Registration number: 1998/013215/06 JSE Code: ECS | ISIN: ZAE000179594 ("the Company" or "Ecsponent") UPDATED TRADING STATEMENT FOR THE 6 MONTHS ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2017 In terms of paragraph 3.4(b) of the JSE Limited (“JSE”) Listings Requirements, companies are required to publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied, with a reasonable degree of certainty, that the financial results for the period to be reported upon next will differ by at least 20% from those of the previous corresponding reporting period. Shareholders are referred to the trading statement released on SENS on 9 November 2017 in which the Board advised shareholders of the minimum difference expected between the interim results for the 6-month period ended 30 September 2017 (“Current Period”) when compared with the results for the interim period ended 30 June 2016 (“Comparative Period”). The Board is pleased to further advise shareholders that it is reasonably certain that the interim results for the Current Period when compared with the results for the Comparative Period, will reflect an increase of between 35% and 45% in earnings per share (“EPS”), resulting in an EPS of between 3.005 cents and 3.227 cents, as compared to the EPS of 2.226 cents for the Comparative Period. The HEPS is expected to increase by between 65% and 75%, resulting in a HEPS of between 1.627 cents and 1.725 cents, as compared to the HEPS of 0.986 cents for the Comparative Period. The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed or reported on by the Company's auditors.
