The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Paula Mokonyane, has issued the following proposal in
terms of section 28 of the Water Services Act, 1997 (Act No 108 of 1997) (“the Water Services Act”):

1.    the disestablishment of Mhlathuze Water in terms of section 28 of the Water Services Act;

2.    the transfer of staff, assets and liabilities, including operations of Mhlathuze Water to Umgeni
      Water; and

3.    the change of name of Umgeni Water to KwaZulu-Natal Water Board.

The reasons for the proposed disestablishment of Mhlathuze Water are as detailed in the full text of the
Notice contained in the Government Gazette dated 10 November 2017, titled Department of Water and
Sanitation,    Notice    Number      1247     and     is   also    available     electronically       at
