Listing of Steinhoff Africa Retail Ltd

FTSE/JSE Africa Index Series - Informative Notice


6 September 2017

Following the publication of the Steinhoff Africa Retail Limited (South Africa, ZAE000247995) pre-listing
statement, the following index treatment is anticipated in the FTSE/JSE Africa Index Series:

Due to the Private Placement to Invited Investors not being a mandatory event for current shareholders
of Steinhoff International Holdings N.V. (SNH), Steinhoff Africa Retail Limited (SRR) is expected to be
treated as a new listing with regards to index treatment, with no impact to SNH in the Index Series.

According to Ground Rule 6.4.1 a new issue will be eligible for fast entry inclusion to the FTSE/JSE Africa
Index Series if its full market capitalisation amounts to 1.0% or more of the full capitalisation of the
FTSE/JSE All Share Index, before the application of individual constituent investability weightings. The
fast entry rule is not applicable to the FTSE/JSE Top 40 and FTSE/JSE SWIX 40 (and their derivative
indexes). FTSE /JSE will normally decide to include the new security as a constituent of the FTSE/JSE
Africa Index Series, for the indexes that it qualifies for, after the close of business on the fifth day of
official trading.

Using data from 4 September 2017, 1% of the full capitalisation of the All Share amounts to
approximately Rb115.

Should SRR qualify for fast entry, an Index Change Advice (ICA) notice will be published on 22
September 2017. Should SRR not qualify for fast entry inclusion into the All Share index, the company
will be considered for index inclusion at the December 2017 review.
