BRPS TO APPLY TO HIGH COURT FOR FURTHER EXTENSION TO DEADLINES

Shareholders are referred to previous SENS announcements concerning the business rescue
proceedings in Ububele and in nine of its subsidiaries (“the Ububele Subsidiaries”).

The business rescue practitioners (“BRPs”) appointed in respect of Ububele and the Ububele
subsidiaries intend to launch a further application to the High Court of South Africa (Western Cape
Division, Cape Town) for an order extending the time periods prescribed for the publication of a
business rescue plan in terms of section 150(5) of the Companies Act 71 of 2008 (“the Act”).

The BRPs will also apply for a further extension of the three-month time limit for business rescue
proceedings as contemplated by section 132(3) of the Act.

The application will be filed on 9 January 2015 and will be set down for hearing on 13 January 2015.

The circumstances necessitating this application will appear from the founding affidavits of the BRPs,
copies of which can be requested by emailing c.ferreira@bowman.co.za.

Copies of any order granted in this matter, as well as all notices and announcements relating to the
business rescue proceedings in Ububele and in the Ububele Subsidiaries, will be made available on
