DECLARED DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENT ON ANGLO AMERICAN PLC HOT ENHANCED DIVIDEND
SECURITIES – (“AGLIHM”)


The Directors of Anglo American plc have declared a dividend of R3.3660480 per ordinary share be payable on
Thursday, 18 September 2014 to ordinary shareholders recorded in the books of the company at the close of
business on Friday, 08 August 2014.

In terms of the new Dividend Tax effective 1 April 2012, the following additional information is disclosed:

1)   local dividend tax rate is 15%;and
2)   no STC credits available; and
3)   net local dividend amount is R2.8611408 per share for shareholders liable to pay the new Dividends Tax; and
     R3.3660480 per share for shareholders exempt from paying the new Dividends Tax; and
4)   the issued share capital of Anglo American Plc is 1,396,611,433 ordinary shares; and
5)   Investec Bank Limited Income Tax Number: 9675/053/71/5, and
6)   Anglo South Africa Capital (Pty) Limited Tax Registration Number: 9273/364/845. Anglo South Africa Capital
     (Pty) Limited will distribute the dividend in South Africa.


Accordingly, the holders of AGLIHM will receive an Anglo American plc dividend amount on Thursday, 18
September 2014 in terms of the Cession clause incorporated in the Supplement between the holders and
Investec Bank Limited. The last day to trade (“cum” the dividend) in order to participate in the dividend is Friday,
01 August 2014.

AGLIHM Hot Enhanced Dividend Securities will commence trading “ex” the dividend from the commencement of
business on Monday, 04 August 2014, and the record date will be Friday, 08 August 2014.
