PROVISIONAL LIQUIDATION OF BRIKOR AND FURTHER CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT

Shareholders are referred to the announcements dated 22 February 2013, 10 April 2013, 24 May 2013
and 2 July 2013, regarding the on-going legal dispute between Brikor and its bankers, Firstrand Bank
Limited (“Firstrand Bank” or “the Bank). The dispute relates to the immediate demand by the Bank of
Brikor’s overdraft and subsequent foreclosure on two term loans under cross default clauses of the Bank’s
finance agreements concluded with Brikor.

On instruction of the Bank, Brikor instituted a restructuring plan in cooperation with the Bank, which
resulted in the sale of assets as requested by the Bank. This process started in 2011, with the final assets
sold in 2012. All monies received were used to reduce the total amount of the amounts owed to the Bank.
The impact of the restructuring and the ongoing litigation were reported on in the Company’s Annual
Financial Statements, which were released on SENS on 26 June 2013. The results also indicated that
Brikor’s financial position has improved, resulting in a Profit After Tax of R 44 million.

On 12 July 2013, Firstrand Bank launched an application for the liquidation of Brikor. The application was
heard on 30 July and the Kwazulu-Natal High court granted an order for the provisional liquidation of
Brikor. The return date is scheduled for 8 October 2013.

Under the circumstances shareholders are advised to continue exercising caution when dealing in the
company’s securities until a further announcement is made.
