DECLARED DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENT ON BHP BILLITON PLC HOT ENHANCED DIVIDEND SECURITIES
– (“BILIHJ”)


With reference to the dividend announcement, the Directors of BHP Billiton plc have declared an interim dividend
of 514.319550 South African cents per ordinary share payable on Thursday, 28 March 2013 to ordinary
shareholders, recorded in the books of the company at the close of business on Friday, 8 March 2013.

The currency exchange rate applicable for the dividend is 9.023150

In terms of the new Dividend Tax effective 1 April 2012, the following additional information is disclosed:

1)   local dividend tax rate is 15%;
2)   No STC credits utilised;
3)   net local dividend amount 437.17162 cents per share for shareholders liable to pay the new Dividends Tax
     and 514.319550 cents per share for shareholders exempt from paying the new Dividends Tax; and
4)   the issued share capital of BHP Billiton plc is 2,112,071,796 ordinary shares.


Accordingly, the warrant holders of BILIHJ, will receive a BHP Billiton plc dividend amount per security on
Thursday, 28 March 2013 in terms of the Cession clause incorporated in the Supplement between the holders and
Investec Bank Limited. The last day to trade (“cum” the dividend) in order to participate in the dividend will be
Friday, 1 March 2013.

BILIHJ Hot Enhanced Dividend Securities will commence trading “ex” the dividend from the commencement of
business on Monday, 4 March 2013, and the record date will be Friday, 8 March 2013.
