SITUATION CALMS AT KWEZI
Aquarius Platinum (SA) (Pty) Limited advises that the situation
reported yesterday at Kwezi shaft has calmed following the
intervention of the South African Police Services. Following the
security incident that occurred yesterday, the shaft’s night shift
reported and made safe the workings, enabling production to resume
this morning.
Mine management continues to liaise with the SAPS, and officials
of both the National Union of Mineworkers and the Department of
Mineral Resources to assess this situation and action any outcomes
from ongoing investigations.
Aquarius condemns any acts of violence on its property and takes
very seriously the safety and security of personnel. Lost
production from yesterday's incident is estimated at 2,800 tonnes.
