IPL - Imperial Holdings Limited - Changes to the board of directors and executive responsibilities Imperial Holdings Limited Registration number: 1946/021048/06 Share code: IPL ISIN: ZAE000067211 ("Imperial" or "the group") CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND EXECUTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES In compliance with the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited the following information is provided: Mr RL (Tak) Hiemstra has announced his intention to retire as an executive director of Imperial at the end of September 2012. He will however remain on the board as a non-executive director of the company. Mr Hiemstra joined the group in 1992 and was appointed to the board in August 1995. He played an instrumental role in the group over the years in the establishment of important new businesses, key acquisitions and as a member of the leadership team. Imperial expresses its gratitude to him for 20 years of dedicated service to the group and we look forward to his contribution as a non- executive director. Mr Hiemstra`s responsibilities for strategic development will be assumed by Mr Mohammed Akoojee, a member of the Executive Committee since January 2011. Mr Akoojee, who joined the group in 2009, has been sharing Mr Hiemstra`s functions of Strategic Development for more than two years. He will take full responsibility for this portfolio, in addition to his current portfolio of Investor Relations, on Mr Hiemstra`s retirement.
