With reference to the announcement released on the Securities Exchange News Service of the JSE Limited on 22 September 2011, Village has, with effect from the commencement of the night shift of 11 October 2011, reinstated all 849 employees, being members of the National Union of Mineworkers (`NUM`), dismissed for participating in unprotected strike action in the form of a go-slow campaign at Cons Murch. An agreement has been concluded between Village and NUM in terms of which, inter alia, Village has agreed to re-instate all 849 dismissed employees; lost production will be worked in by those reinstated employees and "behavioural" problems at Cons Murch are to be jointly addressed by the parties. Management has also reserved its right to take action against those employees who are responsible for initiating the go- slow campaign. The mine has lost 17 of the 63 working days for the quarter. Full production at the mine is due to resume today.
