Clarification of recent media reports
Recent media reports emanating from an interview with a managing director of a
Sasol subsidiary, Sasol Synfuels, may have created certain impressions which may
have been misleading. We will not respond to the reports in their entirety, but
wish to provide context to some of the statements made.
The reports state that Sasol expects to produce 7.3 million tons of product at
Sasol Synfuels for the 2012 financial year. In fact, 7.3 million tons refers to
the Sasol Synfuels baseline production capacity. Sasol Synfuels` growth
programme will improve volumes from this baseline. Sasol Synfuels has a growth
plan in place and we are focusing on implementing this programme, as opposed to
developing a new growth plan. Our growth plans remain on track.
The strike that is currently underway has had a negligible impact on the growth
programme. Production at the plant has already been ramped up and we continue to
monitor the situation.

when relying on forward-looking statements to make investment decisions, you
should carefully consider both these factors and other uncertainties and events.
Forward-looking statements apply only as of the date on which they are made, and
we do not undertake any obligation to update or revise any of them, whether as a
result of new information, future events or otherwise.
