TRADING STATEMENT                                                               
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, companies are         
required to publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied that a    
reasonable degree of certainty exists that the financial results for the        
period to be reported upon next will differ by at least 20% from the            
financial results for the previous corresponding period.                        
Shareholders are referred to Buildmax`s reviewed interim results for 2011,      
released during November 2010, in which Buildmax stated that it expects an      
improvement in the group`s results for the second half of 2011 and              
highlighted the fact that a loss will still be reported.                        
Shareholders are advised that Buildmax`s Headline Loss Per Share for            
continuing and discontinued operations for the year ended 28 February 2011      
are expected to be between 20% and 30% lower than the year ended 28 February    
2010. The Basic Loss Per Share for continuing and discontinued operations are   
expected to improve by between 75% to 90%.                                      
The information on which this trading statement has been based has not yet      
been reported on by the company`s auditors.                                     
The group`s audited financial results for the year ended 28 February 2011 are   
expected to be released on or about 31 May 2011.
