APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR                                                         
In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE       
Securities Exchange South Africa, notice is hereby given of the following       
changes to the board of directors of Illovo :                                   
1.   Mr J T Russell, presently Financial Director of Illovo, has been appointed 
New Projects Director, responsible for pursuing the expansion of Illovo"s       
existing operations and investigating new opportunities.                        
2.   As a consequence of Mr Russell"s redeployment, Karin Zarnack has been      
appointed as Financial Director.                                                
Both appointments will take effect from 1 October 2005.
