DELAY OF RELEASE OF PROVISIONAL ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 28 FEBRUARY 2005    
Following the announcement to the shareholders by Labat on 6 June 2005, Labat   
advised its shareholders that there would be a delay in the publication of the  
2005 provisional accounts, a possible restatement of the 2004 annual financial  
statements ("2004 AFS") and a delay in the publication of the circular relating 
to the disposal by Labat of its retail business, Acme Stores (Proprietary)      
Limited ("the Retail Disposal") until mid July 2005.  Shareholders were informed
that Labat and its auditors are attending to these matters.                     
The matter relating to the 2004 AFS has now been dealt with and the results of  
the review of the 2004 AFS have been submitted to the JSE Securities Exchange   
South Africa ("JSE") for approval of the publication of a detailed announcement.
The publication of the provisional accounts for the year ended 28 February 2005 
as well as the publication of the circular relating to the Retail Disposal are  
being delayed until the aforementioned approval is received from the JSE.       
The results for the year ended 28 February 2005 are targeted to be published on 
8 July 2005. In accordance with the process agreed by the JSE, the 2005 results 
will only be published once the aforementioned detailed announcement relating to
the 2004 AFS has been published.
